Nuit Blanche

Nuit Blanche is an all night arts festival.  Museums, galleries, and films are free for viewing, most till 7am.  I first went through the 19th arrondesment and viewed Nathan Coley's There Will Be No Miracles Here--something about text lit up rocks my world, and Priscilla Monge's Untitled, installation soccer terrain.  Both pieces were created in 2006.  Nathan Coley also had two other light installations titled We Must Cultivate Our Garden, and Gathering Of Strangers.  With the energy of the night and the settings for Coley's installations, the statements were wonderfully enigmatic, yet decipherable.
Next, I went through the Marias, but stopped at Theatre du Chatlet and Theatre de La Ville. I Viewed Melanie Manchot's Kiss and Doug Aitken's Hysteria.  The Kiss was very French (2009), a 10 minute film about an increasingly more passionate kiss.  I really enjoyed Doug Aitken's Hysteria, 1998.  Random notes about  Hysteria: faces are similar to horror, Woodstock, clapping in unison, the lights, ROAR, mosh pit, 80's hair band crowd, 60's girls screaming, watching people see idols, memorized, HYSTERIA.
